Like most Aftco products the gaff is a well made item, that will definitely get the job done. I bought it as a present for a friend that just had a new Regulator 31' delivered. The packaging on the gaff was almost non existent. A plastic bag taped to the uncovered handle. The rear rubber grip was heavily scratched and the Gold anodizing was also deeply marred. Atco makes a great product, but this seller should go back to school and learn how to wrap their merchandise properly.

I can attest that this gaff floats well as I dropped it in the water the first time I used it. Jumped off the back of the boat to retrieve it in toothy-infested waters. Its a little heavy and obviously doesn't flex as its aluminum but other that that, very well made. I have a second gaff that has a rod shaft that I like better as it is flexible and lighter so I probably wouldn't buy another aluminum but if that doesn't bother you, the aftco gaff is a good choice.
