Got this because my Craftsman table saw surges on startup, and I didn't want to fiddle with the internal wiring installing a soft-start module; I have to hold in the start button while I slowly dial up the speed, but after that the saw works like its supposed to, including all safety features, without that startup surge making all the lights flicker; haven't tried it on any other tools, but I reckon it would work good on any other AC power tools & other AC devices, as long as they're not sensitive to low voltage

Has an intuitive control with an On/Off switch and a knob controlled output with a digital voltage display. My wife uses the device to fine tune the wattage of her simple crock pot. That is she can go from "It's too Hot" to "It's just right!" So, if you need to reduce the voltage to an electrical device, this may be just what you need.One caveat, you need to start the output at Maximum (100%) and then reduce the level to your setpoint. Otherwise I would have selected 5 stars.

This product works great. I used it on my drill to constantly slow down the speed to use it as a mixer for mixing leveling cement.
