This product works very very well. I use it for gaming consoles and a computer for my tv and it cleaned up all the cable mess that was made from my previous setup. The option for 4:3 and 16:9 is very nice if you want more of a retro feel.

Directions combine with source options on the TV were not the most intuitive but once I figured it out (after a few minutes) this works great.

Had to replace my 12 year old TV with a newer one that only had HDMI inputs and my old devices (Nintendo Wii and a Malata Karaoke machine) only had component or composite outputs. This was the perfect solution and worked right out of the box to connect both the Wii and karaoke machine component inputs to the HDMI port on the TV.The bonus is that this little device remembers input and power state! So I can leave input 2 (Wii) selected and it remembers it across power cycles so nobody has to hit a button to change inputs constantly and I can just leave the power on!The device is in all metal case, feels hefty, and came with a 500ma USB C power brick and an HDMI cable. It seems solidly built and generates no heat at all (not surprised with only a 500ma power supply). For my purpose, it worked flawlessly!Only wish they had a combination device with 2 Component inputs and a 2 port HDMI switcher - that would have been a perfect future proof device. The same manufacturer does have other ones that have two composite inputs with a 2 port HDMI switcher but composite inputs have poor video quality over component inputs if you are willing to live with that.

This is a review of RuiPuo’s Component Video-to-HDMI Converter with 2-Input Port Switch to 1 HDMI Out -1080P/720P (Model RP097).This unit comes with the combination 2-in/1-out component A/V switch and converter box, a USB power adapter, a USB cable to connect the power adapter to the switch/converter box, and an HDMI cable. (The HDMI version of the HDMI cable is not identified.)The documentationis rather limited, but the setup and usage processes are fairly intuitive. The unit’s on/off button was the only aspect of it that was not intuitive for me. (See description below.)It is a combination of a Component A/V signal switch that takes 2 component A/V inputs and switches between the 2 inputs and it converts the selected component A/V signal to an HDMI signal.It requires the included USB-based power brick and USB cable to operate it.The on/off switch mechanism on the unit may not work as you expect it to work. It does not control the output from the unit. It controls the ability to select the input. When the on/off switch is “On”, the input selection buttons (1 & 2) can be selected by pushing the “Input 1” or “Input 2” button. When the on/off switch is off, the input select buttons are deactivated, BUT the converter unit will still convert the active component input it to an HDMI signal and send it to the HDMI output port.I used RuiPuo’s Component Video-to-HDMI Converter to convert and switch 1080P component A/V to be displayed on an HDMI-based display device supporting 720P video. Both the audio and the video were as good a quality as you could expect for the video resolution.Update: 10/20/23: I've now been using the combination Component Converter & 2-port Switch to a single HDMI output for about 2 months. The audio portion of the component conversion to HDMI is intermittantly failing and then recovering all on its own after a long, variable amount of time.

Most converters change analog 4:3 to hdmi 16:9, resulting in a horizontally stretched image, completely useless! This converter however, gives the right aspect ratio.
