Well we got one batch of ice cream out of it. Which I will say it worked amazingly and the ice cream turned out great. However that was the one and only batch we will be able to make as it broke with the first use. The agitator piece that clips onto the kitchenaid split apart. Now I have a giant paperweight of an ice cream bowl and no way to use the ice cream paddle. I suppose I could probably find another paddle attachment and buy that separately but I shouldn't need to do that.

Homemade ice cream from my mixer - who knew!? This fits perfectly on my KitchenAid mixer - I have the bowl lift version. The only downside is making sure I have enough room in my freezer for the bowl! We liked the results so much that we're going to make a permanent spot for it in our garage freezer so we can make ice cream whenever we want this summer! Easy to clean, easy to use, and now we can make all sorts of fun concoctions and control our ingredients!

This makes for easy and quick homemeade ice cream! The longest part is freezing the bowl...but if you plan on using it often, I would advise storing it in the freezer instead of the cupboard. When you're ready, gather your ingredients (I am just using a basic vanilla cream recipe right now and adding toppings). Set up the bowl and paddle on your KA, and it won't take long until your ice cream is ready. And it tastes AMAZING! It's easy to clean, too.

Yep - makes delicious Ice Cream in my K5-A 1972 lift bowl KitchenAid Mixer. The three pieces of this Ice cream attachment kit are: the bowl that needs to be frozen, the paddle that churns the ice cream, and the attaching drive assembly that by means of a spring provides tension between the drive and the churning paddle. In the marketing photos you can see the drive attachment locks onto the spindle housing that covers up the planetary gear drive, Unfortunately that drive attachment does not stay put on my 1972 K5. I can make it work - but i have to hold it until I can get the spring tension loaded between drive and paddle. When no tension is present the drive attachment will just fall off. I have pretty strong hands - it is not a matter of using more force to get it to set. I may modify mine. I guess that's something to be aware of if you have an older machine – and I don't know how they fit on any other machines. My first time out - I just made a simple vanilla with cream, milk, sugar and real vanilla. It's DeLiCiOuS!It took less than 20 minutes to make the ice cream in a bowl that I froze for about 24 hours in a cold freezer. I could feel the motor getting pretty hot. Your ice cream isn't going to get much harder than a pretty stiff soft serve in your Ice cream maker bowl. You're going to have to put it in the freezer to, 'ripen,' as Kitchen Aid deems it. So, less is more here. More could burn up the motor (or other parts)on your Kitchen Aid. I don't know if KitchenAid mixers were ever meant for making Ice cream - they do work with this attachment, but I think the ice cream is as heavy as most doughs - and doughs can kill a mixer. In fact, KitchenAid says don't go past 2 when mixing doughs. This Ice cream maker is meant to be run on the stir setting or speed 1 - whatever your mixer has.So, this attachment works and makes great Ice Cream. It can really tax your mixer though – definitely not for multiple batches – you would really need more than 1 frozen bowl to do that properly anyway. I like ice cream – I'm certainly glad to have this – I'm going to be careful not to fry my 53 year old mixer.edit: this is an edit before the original review posted. I made ice cream again tonight with 1 part milk, 1 part half and half. I think it needs to be made with more cream; With the low fat content of tonights' ice cream ice crystals were evident in the mix. The texture after ripening in freezer is even worse. I even used three egg yolks in my mix tonight - I thought it would make it creamier. Nope. I think it got named, "ice cream," for a reason. You need cream to make it right. I wouldn't count on making delicious low fat ice cream with this set up. I think they use voodoo magic to make the store bought lowfat stuff.5 Stars for The XINBOOGQ KitchenAid Ice Cream Attachment Kit Knock-Off~ Thanks for Reading – Have an Incredible Life! ~
