This is a commercial farm item, and installing it at home requires skill. I ordered it for my dog, who constantly runs out of water because she is a Husky and drinks lots of water regardless of the weather.The installation requires a plumber and a direct line of water. Once installed, the dog never runs out of water, and the water ball does not need to be heated in the winter because the water line comes directly from the house. I recommend it if you want a final solution to provide constant, fresh water, but it will cost you some plumbing fees.Since this is a direct water line, the water is always fresh, and it will only dispense water when the dog requires it because the dog pushes with his nose, and the water comes out. If water remains in the ball, the amount is too small to create mosquitos or algae. The ball is of good quality, and it takes little room. I removed one star because it requires plumbing knowledge for a DIY project, or you must pay to install it.

I am using this for our pigs. So far it has been working pretty well. They tend to make a mess out of their wateres; but, this one pumps fresh water automatically even when they splash it all out.I did have to tweak it some to make sure it stays upright; but, they loved the mud puddles it created when it didn't!I'm really pleased with this device.
