I purchase marine grade bungee cord from the Sgt. Knots store on Amazon. This cord survives in the sun very well compared to others. So I purchased 1/4 inch bungee to fit these hooks (and a few loops). If you are using outdoors for extended periods I strongly recommend this UV protected cord.I was somewhat taken aback when I received these hooks. The hooks are substantially smaller than I had anticipated. This is OK for my use but others may have issues. See pic for compare to size of quarter. There are no assembly instructions. I think the seller should, at least, provide basic info to ensure you don't hurt yourself, see below. The really important thing is the construction of the cord/hook. It is difficult to get the 1/4 inch cord into the hook receiver socket. Be persistent, the cord WILL fit, you just need to work it some. The issue is you need to be sure you fully seat the bitter end of your cord into the receiver socket. The second pic shows the cord improperly seated, you can see the bitter end of the cord is just touching the fitting. The socket is about 1/4 inch deep, you must push your cord into it completely else the cord will pull out. The third photo shows the cord fully seated, all you see is clean cord going into the socket. After you complete a cord be absolutely sure to give it a hard pull test and protect yourself when you do. If the fitting gives way during the test you could put out an eye with the whip back that happens if a fitting fails to hold the cord.So it is really important you do this correctly. You DO NOT want one of these giving way under tension, esp if there are kids or pets or your face in the vicinity.edit 4/8/24: I saw another commenters post about inability to secure the bungee in the hook (or loop) socket. He included pictures of his attempted construction. I had the exact same problem initially. It is very very important that the end of the bungee is a good clean and flat cut so be careful when you prepare your cord. Also you must use a heat source (lighter flame will work) to melt and lock any frayed material at the bitter end of your cut line. This prevents the sheath of the bungee from unraveling and the unraveling will prevent you from obtaining a solid closure. If you are doing a lot of these, buy a "hot knife" here on Amazon (about $20) which both cuts the cord and seals the sheath at the same time. This just reinforces my point that the seller should provide some clear instructions as to how these should be assembled!! They can be dangerous if they let go under tension.
