Solder went on fine with the proper paste. Tape sticks well, but we cleaned the surface (under cabinet) with isopropyl alcohol first. Been 2 weeks and it is not falling off yet.

If you're just starting your search for LED lights: There is no plug on the end of these lights. You'll need some sort of transformer (see below). If you buy only this reel, you will have no way to power on the lights.I did a lot of research on LED colors because the typical cold white sucks all the happiness out of a room and you end up with a Seinfeld Two Face girlfriend situation. These are by no means incandescent warm, but 2700k is a nice light that I can live with for accent lighting. I've used them as indirect lighting behind a mantel and on top of a tall built-in cabinet, both in the living room. There's a slight delay (a second or two) between flipping the switch and lighting up, but that's not a problem at all.Bought 2 of the Ledwholesalers 30 Watt LED Power Suppply Driver Transformers to power two reels of lights. I could have wired the two reels together and used only one transformer, but the cabinet and mantel are far apart and the complexity of routing wires between the two locations in an old house was more than I was interested in.Connecting the lights to the power cord on the transformer is easy. In both of my applications, the transformer cord is plugged into hidden switched outlets, and the switches are on the wall. I didn't hard wire because I wanted to be able to easily upgrade, change, etc. I built the mantel and cabinet from scratch (which included opening up a wall), so it was relatively easy to wire and install any way I wanted, which wouldn't be the case when using with existing cabinetry. The adhesive stuck well, and I think first wiping down the cabinet surfaces with alcohol helped. When I ordered these, the waterproof casing wasn't available in the 2700k color. The individual lights are a bunch of tiny dust magnets with lots of sharp points, and mine are facing up. If you have a choice, order the lights in waterproof casings for ease of dusting alone. If not, a can of air or a paintbrush will be your friend.I trimmed a couple of feet off of one reel, but haven't connected any lengths together, so I'm no help there. I'm actually trying to figure out new home improvement projects just so I can use these lights again. I'm thinking about making a dining room table, and they will definitely be a part of it. Everyone I show them to wants to know where I got them.

Bought 2 rolls of these for under and over cabinet kitchen lighting. It's only been 2 days, but the LEDs all work and are of even brightness from end to end. The rolls are easy to work with, and the cut marks are well printed. These lights are plenty bright for working on the counters and are a nice warm color, similar to an incandescent bulb. I don't think we will be using the ceiling lights in the kitchen much any more. At night, they illuminate the whole kitchen with a soft, pleasing glow. They are barely warm to the touch even after being on for several hours. This is much better than the LED puck lights I installed in our last house. One reviewer said that the lights reflect in granite countertops, and they do indeed. I don't think it's a big problem, and I got used to ignoring the reflections in a few minutes. For connections between sections of cut strips, I used 18 gauge speaker wire with copper and silver colored wires so I could easily keep track of the polarity. Just make sure that you don't reverse the polarity of the wire when soldering, or the strip won't light up. (The "D" in "LED" stands for "diode", so they only allow electricity to pass in one direction through them!) The strips are clearly marked with + and - symbols. When soldering the wire to the LED strip, I recommend pre-tinning the LED strip contacts with a dot of solder. This will melt away the plastic coating over the strip contacts and result in a good connection. The 3M adhesive on the back of the strips is pretty good, but one strip has lost its stickiness in one 3" section. The underside of our cabinets are porous wood with almost no finish coat, and I think the wood is absorbing the glue from the strip, which is not the fault of the adhesive. I may have to put some sealer on the underside of the cabinets and reattach the LED strip with new tape.I have some lengths of strips left over. I think I'm going to replace the fluorescent bulbs in our camper with these LEDs this weekend! I am very happy with them.

I have used these strips in both red and white. I use them on a solor charged car battery and I use it as back up lighting for my house. The lights are super bright, Easy to work with and are simply amazing. I am going to start cutting the strips and soldering them to make smaller "runs" for bathrooms and what not. Amazing technology and its reasonably priced.
