The cable's construction including the wire, and quality of the molded plugs on both ends is extremely high - and surpasses that of most OEM cables. Since this cable is rated at 15amps, it's an excellent choice for a PC with a high wattage power supply. The device end of the cable has a cutout in the plug molding that indicate it is a C15/C16 rated connector suitable for high temperature applications like cooking appliances. It works just fine in standard C13/C14 IEC sockets that are common to electronic devices.

Some electronics require an extra notch, this is the C15 power cord which allows you to plug in high amperage electronics such as Cisco switches. This is important because these products typically require higher amperage versus the electronics that don't have the notch.I'm using this with my C3750X switch, which also has 24 PoE ports, and this C15 cord is required to power it.At 14 AWG, this is the same wiring in most US homes that are wired for 15A. For continuous loads, you're only supposed to pull 12 AWG (80% of circuit at continuous loads). In many cases, this C15 power cord is not needed unless you have electronics like my switch. You would only need the C14 which is much more available and used in other technology products like printers and power supply units. If heat is a problem and you want to be on the safe side, using the C15 guarantees you have a better electrical connection. C14 power cords are usually manufactured with 16 AWG or 18 AWG wire, sometimes even higher at around 22 AWG.Please don't use this review in any way as electrical advice, it is based solely on my own experiences and I am not an electrician.I just know what my switch requires this notched connector and it works great for me.

I know the actual amperage and voltage ratings of 16 ga copper wire, but for a $1,550 Marantz power amplifier, geeeezus, why didn't they include 14 ga so this audiophile could sleep better? It is run to a nice power bank with protections and direct to ground 10ga wire 17 feet away using an 8 foot copper grounding rod.Plus I needed 8 feet and not the 6' included in the box. So, this was a must on two levels. NEVER underwire gear that draws some juice. My Mac main amps, joules, at volume can draw enough juice to light you on fire.
