With storm season approaching, I like to keep an assortment of preparedness items on hand. I thought for about 10 bucks; this was a no brainer and be a great value for the money. Since its 12AWG wire, it has a great build quality, the seams appear to be well formed and it's just an overall safe choice as well.

I have a 50 foot, 10 AWG NEMA extension cord that I use to charge my model Y however on the charger side I am only using a NEMA 5-15. This cord comes in handy as it allows me to convert my NEMA 5-20 extension cord into essentially a NEMA 5-15 extension cord to plug in my EV charger. This adapter/extension has a really good quality construction, nice and thick cord for heave duty use such as charging my Tesla Model Y which continuously draws 12A at 120V for extended periods. It works great it is hardly even warm after many hours of charging.

This cable is short, but can be very handy to if access to the outlet is limited or if the device you're trying to connect has an oversized accessory plug that will not fit the outlet.This extension features a solid build. The plugs on both ends are made of molded plastic but appear durable with little give. The strain relief is built into both ends of the extension which should help a lot preserving it for years of continual use. The female end of the extension is made to accept 20A plugs, while the male end can be plugged into 15A outlet. I would not recommend using this extension for such applications as it poses a potential and very serious safety hazard. For this potential misuse I'm taking one star iff.

Recently purchased a heavy duty 20 amp / 120 volt extension cord. Because it was rated at 20 amps, it had a male 6-20p plug end (one blade vertical and one blade horizontal with a ground) rather than the standard household 5-15p plug end (two parallel blades and a ground). As my garage and shop has 20 amp receptacles (accomodate 15 or 20 amp plugs), I did not think much of it. Then, I went to use it on a deck project in the rear yard and the error of my thinking became apparent. There was not a 20 amp receptacle anywhere close.Thought I would have to change out the plug end of the extension cord. Nope. Enter this URANT adapter. A standard 5-15p plug on one end and multi-amperage compatible female end. Now I can use my 20 amp cord on either 15 amp or 20 amp receptacle circuits. Cheaper and easier than replacing the existing molded-on plug on the extension cord.This adapter is 12 awg SJTW (hard service, thermoplastic, weather rated) 300 volt rated cable so plenty robust enough for use indoors or out with a heavy duty extension cord. The ends are solidly attached with strong strain relief for the cord. Both the plug end and the female end were a good, snug fit when plugged in. Described by the seller as being 1 foot in length – mine is 13 inches not including the blades on the male plug end. I stood on the cord and it did not crush or deform (I weigh 315lb).Does not carry a UL certification but the packaging shows it has a CE rating (European safety standard).Competitively priced to other adaptor cords on Amazon of similar advertised ratings and materials.Would I get another if the need arose? Yes. Would I suggest it to a friend with a similar need? Yes. Do I think it is well constructed and will last for years unless abused? Yes. Is it so outstanding to warrant a full five stars? The URANT Adapter is a short heavy gauge (12AWG) 15A to 20A plug adapter. It has a thick, well insulated cable. The plug and wire are molded tightly together. Both ends of the adapter fit snuggly. One caution… I don't recommend using a 20A device plugged into a 15A outlet. In my case, I have a very long 20A extension cord that I can use with a 15A device and plug it into 15A outlet without having to run two power cords.
