My only issue with this is that I haven't been able to find a small enough hot dog yet. We tested these out with lil smokies and they're a bit too large to fit into the little slot for the dog. It also takes a bit of practice with getting the right amount of batter into the mold - definitely put the batter in before the hot dog. They're also surprisingly easy to pop right out. Cleaning takes a bit, but it's also not that hard. Just have to get into all of the little crevices.

While the kids enjoyed the snack...they did not turn out as nearly as cool as the photos show. I did two batches and the second turned out marginally better, but it is a stretch. I am going to substitute with corn bread mix on next attempt, as the directions calls for pancake...was "okay" but I think it will be improvement on the snack with different batter.

These came out cute after several practice runs. The biscuit option didn’t look as good as the pancake but tasted much better. The pancake batter was dry. I just bought Walmart buttermilk biscuits and tore them apart. You don’t need a whole biscuit per each shark. It was much easier to control the sausage as opposed to the pancake mix where the sausage floated. In the picture with two of the sharks, the top one is the biscuit the bottom one is the pancake mix. Placed them on the bottom rack in the oven so that they would be browner on the top part of the shark. Fun! Once I got the hang of pushing the biscuit well into the mold and fitting the hotdog in the right place it all went pretty quickly. I did trim some areas around the hot dog/sausage with a small knife so that the shape would be more pronounced and detailed. Bought edible marker to do the eyes with. 😃

It seemed like a good idea for the HOA picnic since it's a lake community that I live at. But, these did not work out at all. Some got stuck int he mold. Others just puffed up like a blob and the hot dogs didn't stay put and they looked so odd. They do taste good with the little smokies and pancake batter however. I ended up donating these to Good Will.
