I bought this to show my 10 year old how positive and negative color palettes work. The problem here is that when you combined these three lights, you don't get white light. It's pinkish purple. Because the green light is weaker than the rest of them. And the red isn't exactly red it's kinda purple, nor is the green all that green it's almost yellow-green. On top of the brightness being not that powerful. Even with brand new batteries.

It's surprising how often I need a portable light that is not bright white. I frequently use my cell phone light for navigating around in the dark (IE when my wife is sleeping, and I need something from the bedroom). I've found that these RGB lights provide enough light that I can easily keep my night vision and see well enough to find what I'm looking for without using a blinding bright white light.My 13 year old son loves these when he's playing outside with friends at night. They are small enough to fit in your pocket, and not really even notice it's there. It uses a single AA battery, and I'm not sure what the total power time is before it has to be replaced, but so far we've used them a lot and not needed to replace the battery.I'm really glad we have these, and the fact there are 3 of them, with different colors is fantastic. We've already used them on a camping trip and it's been much better than using a bright white light. So bottom line is if you need something small that's a viable alterative to a white light, you can't go wrong with these.

These are very well made in all aluminum and they are extremely bright.The colours are pure red, green, and blue, and when the beams overlap, they produce a white area. It's hard to see that in the photo, but the combination is very clear in person. You can produce other colours by combining the flashlights in different ways. This is a really interesting effect, and it would be quite educational for students learning about light.The red is useful by itself for occasions when night vision must be preserved.I tried them with AA batteries, but apparently they also work with 3.7v lithium 14500 batteries, which is really nice.They toggle between high, low, and strobe modes with a press of the back button. The focus is adjustable.These are really fun and interesting.

These are below average low-powered singe color (R/G/B) LED flashlights that have somewhat flimsy construction for the LED/head housing (i.e. the movable/zoomable tube) and the flashlight as a whole just seems, well, cheap although entire frame is still made of aluminum frame and they do work. Unfortunately, their brightness is vastly overinflated and the quality of the individual color is lacking (i.e. NOT true red, green, or even blue).What's really surprising though is the fact that they aren't even uniformly focused. In the pictures you can see that the red ones are consistently smaller in size and that's not because they are at a different distance but due to the fact that each of these are focused differently and that means they aren't even positioned correctly with respect to the reflector and that's just disappointing to see.They do have a typical tailcap switch which I prefer over the push-button at the side but that's of course a personal preference. However, the tailcap is also cheaply made and I can see the interior exposed with one of the plastic cap being crooked and defective.They have 3 modes (high, low, and strobe) of operation along with a zoomable lens which I do appreciate although the mechanism is (again) cheap and of low quality in comparison to most others that I've come across. The LED/head housing (i.e. the movable/zoomable tube) is also crooked when extended out and that's something I don't usually see, and I believe that says it all about the overall quality of these.They claim to have a brightness of 200 lm; however, a quick tests show that these are at most 50 lm with the red flashlight being much lower at just around 38 lm. As you can see from the various pictures, it's not exactly white when all 3 colors are added together and it has a distinct purple-ish hue because all 3 flashlights have different brightness and that makes it difficult to use these flashlights corrected and as intended and these don't really suit my needs unfortunately.They have an unknown IP rating and I suspect these are no more than IPX4 (i.e. light splashes). They can take 1x AA or 1x 14500 although neither is provided. I don't have any 14500 to test 'em with now but I should be able to do so in a few days so I guess we'll see how that will go. These probably wouldn't be a good candidate for astronomy since the red one is the dimmest.These would probably work just fine as long as you don't care about any of the issues aforementioned (not everyone care about all of 'em I suspect); however, the lack of sufficient brightness (primary reason for the order) and ununiformed focus make these unsuitable for what I need them.≡ ValueAll things considered, these are below average low-powered single color (R/G/B) LED flashlights that are moderately well-constructed and for the most part should work just fine if you don't care about any of the issues mentioned above. They are somewhat reasonably priced at $19 (for a 3-pack) for what they provide and their overall build quality (or the lack thereof), features, usability, and performance. Your mileage might vary.
