I purchased these for use on a survival knife scabbard project. Not the best quality, but enough for basic directional information. The units seem to point to the correct direction for North etc.

In general the quality is good. 8 out of 10 of them are accurate. One clocks a little left & the other clocks a little right, but not more than 10 degrees. The magnet inside does not seem to be the strongest I have ever encountered, but in a nice quiet environment, they do settle out & indicate well.

I bought them to inset on some walking sticks I am finishing. At first several were pointing in the wrong direction. A little flick and they rotated okay. I left them on the counter overnight and they all made their way to the correct reading.They are little button compasses. Give them a chance :-)

Mine pretty much all 10 agreed with a second type of compass. Ever so slight variations but im not navigating a ship or airplane. I just want to stick them on my kayaks so I know roughly which direction the river is taking us, and they'll do quite fine for that. Mine seem to be oil filled. I would recommend them for any use where life and death is not a factor. There's reviewers hating on these compasses but im happy with my purchase
